This year too, we warmly invite you to International Museum Day. Crafts Museum Ovelgönne opens its doors with free admission and a special programme that delights young and old alike.
About the Event
Experience history. Touch history.
Museum Day is the perfect opportunity to (re)discover our museum. Our volunteer experts are on hand in every workshop, explaining machines and answering questions. The historic forge will be especially lively when the master smith lights the fire.
This year, for the first time, we are opening our newly arranged depot to small visitor groups – an exclusive look behind the scenes, otherwise accessible only to researchers.
Refreshments are of course provided: the Heimat- und Kulturverein will serve fresh coffee, East Frisian tea and home-baked cake in the museum garden. All proceeds go directly towards preserving the collection.

Doors open & Welcome
Free admission for all visitors. Welcome in the entrance area by the association chair.

Tour: Historic Pharmacy
Discover the fascinating world of historic medicine in our authentically preserved pharmacy. Duration: approx. 30 minutes.

Live forge demonstration outdoors
The master smith shows live how metal is shaped. Children may operate the bellows themselves under supervision.

Depot tour (register on-site)
Exclusive look into our newly arranged depot with over 3,000 objects not normally on display. Groups of up to 8 people.

Evening in the museum garden
Coffee, tea and cake. The garden remains open until dusk.
