Everything you need for your coverage of the Crafts Museum Ovelgönne.
The Crafts Museum Ovelgönne is a museum of cultural history with a focus on folk culture, situated in the heart of the Wesermarsch. It is dedicated to the material culture and craft history of the region, combining historical collections with contemporary educational formats. Historical craft techniques, tools and everyday objects are not viewed as mere artefacts but are always researched and communicated in the context of the people who made or used them.
Since its founding in 1981, the museum — supported by the Heimat- und Kulturverein Ovelgönne e.V. — has been housed in a historic town house dating from 1773. Particularly since 2000, the institution has developed from a local history collection into a scientifically researching institution that understands craftsmanship, everyday culture and regional identity as an inseparable whole. A modern annex provides space for rotating special exhibitions.
Among the museum's special offerings are the interactive Time Wheel project, a digital exhibition guide, and a comprehensive education programme for schools and groups.
