Walk-in time capsules in the historic townhouse from 1773 — scientifically grounded and accessible to all.
Concept
Our exhibitions are more than classic display rooms. They are walk-in time capsules that make everyday historic life tangible.
Our museum grounds comprise several buildings with different thematic focuses. We preserve the history of the community of Ovelgönne and the entire Wesermarsch district. In the historic townhouse from 1773 you discover the permanent exhibition in an absolutely authentic setting. The modern outbuildings offer accessible space for scientifically grounded topics as well as our exhibitions on blacksmithing and wheelwrighting.

The Permanent Exhibition.
The listed Oldenburg gabled house from 1773 forms the setting for our permanent exhibition. Across two floors you discover lovingly and completely furnished workshops and shops of the region.
From the faithful replica of the Burg pharmacy and the fragrant bakery to the precision world of the watchmaker, all the way to the heavy work of thatching and peat cutting — every room tells its own story.
