Original Bockhorn bricks with individual engravings in the museum pavement

Your Name.
In the Pavement.
For Ever.

Design your own original Bockhorn brick and become a permanent part of the Crafts Museum Ovelgönne: for you, for your family, for everyone who comes after.

A brick, fired and laid,
endures for centuries.

From €15

Every cent goes directly into preserving the listed 1773 Bürgerhaus. No markup, no admin fees: your money becomes craftsmanship.

Permanently laid

Bockhorn bricks from the Uhlhorn works are among the hardest brick products in northern Germany. Once fired, they last centuries.

With a personal location plan

You receive an exact site map. Your children, grandchildren, and every generation after can find your brick whenever they visit.

Your brick. Your mark.
Your story in the museum.

A genuine Bockhorn brick from the traditional Uhlhorn works: you bring the idea, we craft it by hand. Sketch your desired motif, your name, an important date or a personal symbol on our order form. Our craftspeople then carefully transfer your design into the still-soft clay blank. Every stone becomes a true original.

After firing in the museum's own kiln, your brick is permanently laid in the museum pavement. With a personal location map you can find it at any time. So can your children, grandchildren, and all the generations that follow.

All proceeds flow directly into the care and preservation of the listed 1773 Bürgerhaus. With your stone you help keep this special piece of cultural history alive.

Your path to
your own stone.

From ordering to permanently laid brick: simple, personal, and made for eternity.

Order

Download the order form, fill in your details, and sketch your desired motif in the space provided — no artistic talent required.

Design

Our volunteer craftspeople transfer your motif onto a fresh clay blank with skill and care, crafting it to your exact wishes.

Fire

Fired sustainably in the museum's own kiln once a full batch is ready. The heat gives the brick its characteristic colour and its centuries-long durability.

Lay

We permanently lay your brick in the museum pavement. You receive a personal location plan so that you and everyone after you can find it at any time.

Your Stone.
Our Collection.

When it is laid, your brick is no longer a paving stone — it becomes an officially inventoried museum object. As part of the permanent collection of the Crafts Museum Ovelgönne it stands alongside 11,500 historical artefacts spanning 650 years of Wesermarsch history. This is not a souvenir. This is stewardship.

Inventoried

Your brick receives its own inventory number and is entered into the permanent museum collection — documented and preserved to museum standards, just like every historical exhibit.

With location plan

You receive a personal site map. Your children, grandchildren, and every generation after can find your stone whenever they visit — forever.

For generations

Bockhorn bricks last centuries. Your name is fired and laid — not just in a photograph, but a permanent part of the history of the Wesermarsch.

Why your stone
is more than a stone.

The Museum Stone is not a souvenir — it is a lasting statement. For you, for your family, for the whole region.

You sustain the museum

Every stone contributes directly to preserving the listed 1773 Bürgerhaus. Your €15 becomes tools, restoration work, and ongoing operation: visible, effective, and for everyone.

You leave your mark

Your name, your date, your motif: fired into brick, laid in the pavement of a 250-year-old building. What could be more lasting? Everyone who enters the museum walks past you.

You become part of history

Alongside you stand families, school classes, clubs, and businesses from across the Wesermarsch. Every stone tells a story and together they tell the story of our community.

What goes on
your stone.

The possibilities are as varied as the people who take part. Names, years, initials, family crests, company logos. Your imagination is the only limit. Our craftspeople are happy to advise you.

Still
questions?

Here you will find answers to the most common questions about the Museum Stone. For anything else, just write to us!

It depends on when our kiln is completely full — we fire sustainably and wait until a complete batch is ready. This usually takes a few weeks to a few months. We will let you know as soon as your stone is finished and has been laid.
Anything that fits on the surface of a brick: your name, a date, initials, a family crest, a craft symbol, a short motto, or a company mark. Our craftspeople are happy to advise you on what is technically possible and looks good — just submit your idea and we will get back to you.
Absolutely! Company logos, club insignia, or a whole group of stones for your team — it is all perfectly possible and already done by many. For larger orders please contact us directly so we can find the best solution together.
Yes, absolutely! You receive a detailed location plan that shows you exactly where your stone lies in the museum pavement. Many families come specifically for a "stone visit" — a lovely reason to keep returning to the museum.
Your stone remains a permanent part of the museum grounds. During any necessary building work, all stones are carefully lifted and re-laid afterwards. The pavement and the site are designed to preserve the stones across generations.
